Land Training for swimmers 10 years and over starts at Cleator Moor Bowls Centre on Monday 23rd January from 6.30 - 7.30pm.The session will focus on core strength and agility specifically for young swimmers and will include spinning bikes (height restriction),stretch ropes,medicine balls etc.at a cost of £1.50 per session,see Alan Burns or Paul Messenger for further details. A stroke technique session for swimmers in B/C,C & D Squads is available on Mondays from 6.30 - 7.30pm in St Bees pool at a cost of £2.00 per session,see Nicola Stephenson for further details. The 17/18 weekend will now be at Copeland and the 24/25 weekend at Kendal. The 2012 Diddy league dates have been removed from the event calender and new dates will be provided when available. The club have organised a Zumba fitness class to take place at St Bees school on the 31st October between 1830 - 1930 hrs. Swimmers from all squads are invited to attend and any remaining space can be taken by parents.The cost is dependant on numbers but will not exceed £2. The second round of the Arena league will take place at Kendal Leisure Centre on Saturday November 13th. Copeland will be hoping for another strong performance to follow up the excellent second place achieved at Leigh in the first round. The P.B. sheet has been updated to include the recent Workington and Ulverston results Lottery Bonus Ball-Sat 24 Sept No 31 Winner-Katherine Atkinson Copeland enjoyed a successful start to the season in the President's Gala staged by Workington ASC on Saturday 10th September.This gala,which offered mostly medium distance events for swimmers of all levels,saw Copeland collect 36 top 3 finishes including 14 winners.In the 10-year-old boys events Isaac Hinde led the way with 5 wins and 9-year-old Adam Metcalf picked up the 50m Freestyle and 200m Breaststroke in his age group. The girls continued the good work with 13-year-old Taylor Kelsey and 14-year-old Becky Walley winning 3 events each,12-year-old Chloe Carr collecting the 200m Backstroke and 9-year-old Mary Wake picking up the gruelling 400m Freestyle age group trophy. The team coaches were pleased with the trophy haul and the 46 ‘Personal Best’ times achieved on the day but the highlight was watching several 9-year-old swimmers taking part in their first individual competitive gala. A small group of Copeland swimmers had a successful time at the City of Sunderland Summer Splash LC Gala. Ellinor Southward led the way with eight wins from eight events and her four P.B.'s included a new 9 year old Girls 50m Freestyle County Record. Adam Metcalf had three wins,a second and three thirds from his seven events achieving four P.B.times.Jack Kellet had a fine victory in the 50m Butterfly,three second places and a third in other events and also managed two P.B.times.Sam Kellet swam well to lower her time in four out of seven events and Chloe Carr also managed two P.B.'s from her swims. Adam Metcalf and Ellinor Southward also won the Best 9 year old Boy and Girl awards. June 2011 Copeland competed in the Sprint League competition at the Carlisle Pool and finished in 6th position from 10 teams. Click here for Results and click here for Total scores Lottery Bonus Ball-Sat 25 June No 31 Winner-Katherine Atkinson Copeland's very young Diddy League squad finished 4th in the 'A' Final at Kendal.This was a good performance against more experienced squads and means Copeland have qualified for the Grand Final to be swam at Carlisle in October.Click here for results Copeland swimmers enjoyed a successful day at our graded gala with 17 Age group event wins,2 Age group county records and a total of 62 P.B.'s swam.The event wins came from Alex Sarah Messenger in the Girls 10 year old 50m Breaststroke,Becky Walley in the Girls 14 year old 200m IM,50m and 200m Free,Ellinor Southward in the Girls 9 year old 100m and 200m IM,50m and 200m Free,Isaac Hinde in the Boys 10 year old 50m Free,Back and Fly,100m and 200m IM,200m Free and Scott Bailey in the Boys 14 year old 50m,100m and 200m Free.Ellinor Southward lowered her own county age group records in the 50m Free and 100m IM events. Well done to everyone involved in a very successful Gala including the parents helping poolside and fundraising by selling cakes and hot dogs. Lottery Bonus Ball-Sat 18 June No 31 Winner-Katherine Atkinson No training on Saturday 18 June due to the Graded Gala. Isaac Hinde reached four finals in the North West Regional Age Group Championships held in the Manchester Aquatic Center over two weekends.He collected bronze medals finishing 3rd in both the 200m Butterfly and Freestyle events. The event takes place on the weekends of 4/5 and 11/12 June and for Isaac and Alex will be the first time competing in a 50m pool.
